Description:

The Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD) is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Skills and Experience for the Careers of Tomorrow (SECTOR) Program Expansion to assist the County in its efforts to provide economic recovery and resilience to the communities most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. SECTOR Program Expansion provides wraparound, trauma-informed support and skills training and/or PWE to approximately 160-180 adults per year in Compton/Willowbrook and surrounding areas who have been involved in or at risk of community gun violence and who have been impacted by the criminal legal system. The primary goals of the SECTOR Program Expansion are to: 1) increase employment rates and earnings for program participants, 2) improve overall health and wellness for program participants, and 3) improve public safety in the Compton area by decreasing gun related violence and reducing recidivism. Through education and training that align with the skill needs of local industries and other services to address employment barriers, the SECTOR Program Expansion helps violence and justice impacted individuals attain industry-recognized credentials and experience to enter or advance within a specific career pathway.
